I knew there was a reason I liked Castle: 7 of its 20 credited writers are women. It's not parity, but WAY closer than most shows.

@fozmeadows For the last year or so, my TV viewing consists of two shows: Elementary and Castle. They treat women characters as humans.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@AthenaHelivoy Elementary is the best. Only seen a few eps as the site I was using to stream them closed, but it's AWESOME.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@AthenaHelivoy I read that piece at the time. And I agree, having blogged before about the sexism and racism of Sherlock.#ugh1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@fozmeadows In fact, I think#Elementary has improved as it settled down. &#Castle has 3 women across age span -- though it's been uneven.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@fozmeadows You're right, I hadn't counted Gates who arrived later. Plus they all have their own interests, careers & lives.#Castle1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@AthenaHelivoy I love how complex the Gates-Beckett relationship is. Mutual respect, but very different ppl who often disagree.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@fozmeadows That's right: the show handily passes the Bechdel test!1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
@AthenaHelivoy I wish we lived in a world where that wasn't something that made a show exceptional.
