@fozmeadows a trick: hold the jar at an angle and hit the edge of the lid against a hard surface (stone or even kitchen tile)...
I has pikelets with raspberry jam and cream. Huzzah! (I bought strawberry especially, but the hubsond is away & I couldn't open the jar.)
