A thing I wish more people knew: when you “train” yourself to get good at running in high heels or wearing them all day, what you’re actually doing is shortening your Achilles’ tendon, such that doing the same things in flats often end up painful. Higher heels = shorter AT.

Adults choosing to modify their bodies in whatever way is completely fine, but it’s very much less an informed choice when you don’t know that the acclimation you’re making to heels is physically altering your body in a way that can have repercussions.

Which is why I get absolutely FERAL about putting little girls in “trainer” heels from young ages. You are significantly altering their ability to be comfortable or to run in flats! And the long-term effects are worse, because you’re doing it to them from childhood!

In conclusion heels can look boss as hell and be very fun, but please take care of your Achilles’ tendons! I am reliably informed that tearing or snapping them is Extremely Unpleasant!
