Listen: my dad was born in 1932 and HE STILL PULLED HIS WEIGHT AROUND THE HOUSE! He cooked regularly! He did grocery shopping! He looked after me and made the bed and did the washing up! It is actually possible for straight men not to be lazy assholes by default! DEMAND MORE.
The really sad part is that now she's made her point, they'll go right back to status quo. He'll have decided he did it once so that counts forevermore. She'll give up and do all the work again.
I find these so bizarre. Like, my daughter is 9 and she's known for years that for meals you make yourself, you clean up after yourself, and for meals for others, whoever cooks doesn't clean up afterwards and whoever doesn't cook cleans.
(Among other things, that has provided good incentive for her to take on more of the supper cooking duties, because she knows it gets her out of drying and putting away dishes.)
