as soon as an author signs a tradpub contract their work becomes corporate IP. that is literally how publishing WORKS. this is not the take you think it is.

Like, I've never gotten into fanfic as a reader or a writer, but if one day I have people writing fanfic about my work I would consider it the ultimate compliment because it shows the love they feel for my writing.
