Exactly. Just, almost every adjective used in that first Harkonnen scene is geared to emphasise that These Are Bad And Effete Men, over and over.

I'm keen to see Stellan Skarsgard's take on the character, which I understand eliminates all that & focuses on his political machinations. Dune I think is an example of the kind of classic whose central story is good enough its... issues can be updated without losing the whole.
