Going through this pandemic as the parent of a 7yo is surreal. He's old enough now that this is probably going to be his first memory of a global event, but right now all it means to him is that he gets no school and can't see his friends. He doesn't know how serious it is.

Meanwhile, my husband & I are both thinking about our parents, all of whom are back in Australia, all of whom are potentially extra vulnerable. They're taking precautions and we know how lucky we all are compared to others, especially financially, but still.

I've finally realised that the weird emotion I'm feeling is a sort of anticipation: where we are, it feels like the calm before the storm, but a storm you can already see coming. You've rushed around trying to batten things down and prepare, and now have to wait for it to hit.
