Am equally confused by the idea that The Kiss MUST support/imply a romance (as opposed to, say, an “Oh shit we survived!” impulse) when Leia kissed Luke in the originals. Like. It’s a valid interpretation, but it’s demonstrably not the only one!

I liked it despite its oddness. The sequels were a wonderful improvement over the majority of what came before.

I think people car more about this because they cared a lot more about these characters than those in the prequels, and because (I think) TLJ held out promise of a different and good story. The prequels were just bad, but forgettable. (I thought).

See, I get that, but I really disliked a lot of TLJ, specifically what it did with Poe.
