I let my laptop run updates last week and ever since there's a 50% chance that if I open a tab in Google Chrome, the text looks like fucking hieroglyphs until I tab out and in again a few timespic.twitter.com/HhkiP3m383

... yikes. Is it running the fans super-hard (ie is your laptop louder than usual)? Does this kind of thing happen in other browsers? If you run updates again, do you get different results? Was this Windows Update or a manufacturer-specific update?
The fans are fine, it seems to be chrome-specific, and they were standard Windows updates. I haven’t tried restarting as it’s a comparatively minor issue, just... very weird
I would DEFINITELY reboot and see if the problem persists. Rule #1 of computers: Nothing is a real problem until it happens again after a reboot. If it still happens, I'd check for graphic card updates, via the manufacturer rather than Windows Update.
If it's a high-end gaming laptop, that means Nvidia Experience. Low-end gaming laptop, ATI Catalyst. Not-gaming laptop, Intel Graphics updates from your laptop manufacturer. Dell or Lenovo if you're lucky.
I have rebooted and thus far there is no resurgence of the problem! Huzzah!
