I’m exaggerating slightly; he does tongue-bathe *sometimes*, but not very much and not very efficiently. I think in part it’s because he’s a wobbly cat - he can’t balance well with a leg or an arm in the air, so he tries not to do it at all.

i had a Fluffy Beast who would go romp in puddles when it rained and then come drip on anything which didn't run away, but nope on the steam dry and the shower preference

No but we had a long haired ginger ex-stray who couldn't be arsed with grooming beyond essential face & bum hygiene. He decided entirely of his own accord that being hoovered was much less effort & wld lie down in front of the vacuum whenever anyone used it so they did him first
