Ambulances are overwhelmingly free and where hey cost money, it’s vastly cheaper than in the US. In the US, EMTs frequently report being turned away by gravely injured people who don’t want their families to go into debt. People die of diabetes because of the cost of insulin.
You wouldn't have to pay higher taxes. Do you even know how *absurdly large* the amount of money the US spends on the military is? Take a tiny fraction of that and you'd have universal healthcare paid for without impacting you - AND you'd save money without insurance costs.
