Just had my first experience of booking a GP visit in the US using my medical insurance. It's November 6th. The earliest appointment I could get with my mandated practitioner? December 11th. Every USian who's ever yelled about wait times under socialised medicine can SHUT UP.

The maternal death rate in the US is far higher than anywhere else in the developed world because of how much prenatal care and childbirth cost; these things are free under socialised medicine, so fewer mothers and babies die.

It’s paid for in taxes; same as roads, schools. Also, socialised medicine isn’t socialism; words have complex meanings! And if you think homeschool *isn’t* a much-used way for people to indoctrinate their kids without oversight, I’d suggest you aren’t paying attention.
