Just had my first experience of booking a GP visit in the US using my medical insurance. It's November 6th. The earliest appointment I could get with my mandated practitioner? December 11th. Every USian who's ever yelled about wait times under socialised medicine can SHUT UP.

Ambulances are overwhelmingly free and where hey cost money, it’s vastly cheaper than in the US. In the US, EMTs frequently report being turned away by gravely injured people who don’t want their families to go into debt. People die of diabetes because of the cost of insulin.

The maternal death rate in the US is far higher than anywhere else in the developed world because of how much prenatal care and childbirth cost; these things are free under socialised medicine, so fewer mothers and babies die.
