Teaching a kid that there are consequences to their bad behavior is an invaluable lesson. Conversations as to why the actions were bad are just as valuable. A balanced approach is called for.

I think these people live in snowflake land! Kids have been without responsibility for far too long and parents haven’t been parenting for a while. This kid will grow up with values thanks to dad

If they don't do it again... That's changing behavior to me!! There are sure a lot of kids now days that need behavior changes!! Parental teaching has gone out the window!! need it back!

Maybe when you were growing up! Just give a blue ribbon when someone is NOT bullying

I disagree! Creative punishment works. It’s unforgettable! When a parent is in tune w/ their child enough to KNOW behavior patterns, the slightest variation can be addressed as it occurs. KNOW your KIDS!

P.S. I have two 25-year-olds who will tell you ruling w/ iron fist, lots of love and being VERY involved enough to know their normal behavior patterns WORKED WELL!

Let children do whatever they want. They'll soon enough grow up to be a menace to society and have to be locked up like animals in prison...

. . . following this logic, when you punish a criminal, you "don't really change the behavior you only teach the [criminal] how to avoid getting caught."

Good point
