I agree with this, but I also know the SRO's need some advanced training. Some have it, so do not. The AR is only good as the person behind it. When an active shooter takes place you have to be able to put all aside and eliminate the threat. We did see some at BSO fail last year

Smart move in many respects. More accurate than a handgun so less chance of stray shots, more powerful than a handgun so less bullets, & more intimidating than a handgun so it may deter
