Dr. Havran was a wonderful scientist. She was very kind to me when I was just starting my lab. She will be missed for her science but also her ability to connect with others, no matter their position or level of seniority. A wonderful woman.

Such sad news. I will miss Wendy. I knew her well when I was a postdoc in San Diego and one of my former graduate students was working with her as a postdoc. She was always a bright light at the AAI meetings and the ThymUS meeting. A brilliant scientist and wonderful person. 1/2

I first got to know and appreciate Wendy while serving together on F31/F32 immunology study section very early in my independent career. This is very sad news.

Prof Havran’s work on gd-iELs greatly inspired my own studies. Way back as a 1st yr PhD student, I was delighted to meet her at a conf (then mortified when on the way home, airline tried to charge me fees & she stepped in to offer help). I’ll never forget her kindness. ❤️

A huge loss! I just told the story of when Dr. Wendy Havran gave her Sunday morning to drive me around because I'd had to miss the PhD interview weekend. She was joyful and witty; I was humbled by the generosity of this great immunologist. Thank you, Wendy. 🥺

I am devastated by this news. Wendy Havran was a giant in our field, who made seminal findings about gdT cells in the skin from 1990s to the present. Most importantly, she was a wonderful and kind person. I will miss her smile and welcoming ways. RIP Wendy. 😢
