I think substrate is too simplistic a term in the last case, but you get the drift of my question. Am wondering if it’s just inevitably intelligence/consciousness optimization all the way up.

Remember that science doesnt know how a transistor works. I dont believe the quantum mechanical impenetrable barrier fairy tale. What I think we will find is the biological engine is not working that different, only difference is silicon is like bashing a screw in with a hammer.
