I hate that take so much. The "not queer enough" and gatekeepy vibes are just... urgh. Forcing people to publicly identify themselves is never the way to go.

It's weird seeing a bi person of all people saying "You must be this queer to write". "You must smooch this many women before your character can be gay."

yeah like, I thought the whole point was not to assume sexuality? That labels can change over time? What you identified as *once* may not stick and badgering someone to come out was bad? And yeah, the whole 'gold star gay' vibes was just URGH. There's no one way to be queer.
