Blizzard: *releases a book, because more ways to enjoy a story is fun and expands on lore that gameplay won't always allow for* People: H O W D A R E Y O U I get it, playing through certain story beats would be awesome. It ain't always gonna be possible. Books are fun.

I've always felt that there's a place for every medium of storytelling. From movies, to books, to animations, to gameplay. Books comparatively let you dive deeper in some areas that would be almost impossible to make 'fun' in a game.

EXACTLY. With WoW centred around the player character as the Champion who has to set everything right, some story elements simply won't work within that confine. Also, reading is nice??? Imagine being offered different ways to enjoy a story and getting angry about it.

I know people will disagree with me but I really enjoyed Knaak's storytelling in the Warcraft books. I particularly enjoyed Stormrage and the War of the Ancients series. Stormrage would have been fun to do in-game, but it worked as a story, too.

The topic of which medium to use to tell different stories is a passion of mine around WoW. And I think they all work for very different reasons :) I don't think anyone can argue that Saurfang's death cinematic wasn't powerful. The thousand yard stare in Anduin's face.

Oh Lord yeah. Deciding what to make into a cinematic, an IGC, a book, a quest etc must be such a hard decision.
