Years ago I was offered free jaw surgery on the NHS to correct my overbite. I knew a move to Japan was coming up, and myself and the orthodontists agreed trying to plan something like that overseas would've been a nightmare. I'm thinking I should look into it again.

All I remember about the process is that I'd have all my back teeth out, braces for two years, surgery to break the hell out of my jaw and more braces for up to another 2 years. I remember watching a video of a guy puking blood after his surgery. Gnarly, also wtf

I'm also 31 next month, and part of me wonders if I should just try and make peace with my slightly off (13mm slightly off...) jaw, cause being in braces at 35 doesn't sound overly fun.

I had a friend that had that done! He did look really different during the healing process, and it was honestly hard for him to adjust to his new smile for awhile, but he’s so happy now!! I always see him smiling.

Yeeeahh, that's the other issue... even if I did go back I don't expect the NHS route to go particularly fast for a 30-something/low priority case yknow?
