Got a daughter that's at the age she might get her very first period? Please don't force her to use a tampon - and keep in mind that other not-her-parents adults might pressure her to. Sincerely, Someone who was locked in a bathroom by two women until it was over.

Obvs. speaking from secondhand experience, but "i don't like feeling like I'm wearing a diaper" is a response I've heard before.

Pads have gotten a lot better in recent years, I've had some brands I nearly forgot I had on. I've also got a super heavy flow so I find the presence of the pad a lot mentally better than constantly worrying the tampon might not hold. :P Not sorry for TMI.

I'm guessing it's perceived hygiene - but, like, how's that any more gross than having it plugged up inside you with the risk of TSS? >>; I remember the girls in my school also paranoid about feeling like a kid in a diaper. I'd still much rather deal with pads than tampons x.x

If it feels like a diaper then they've probably got a size too big for them... that's pretty sad though. I basically avoided tampons just for the TSS risk :/
