To add: when you feel yourself getting angry, it is actual neurochemicals in your blood stream that are affecting you, your mind, and your judgment. It can take hours to clear out the fight or flight instinct. I step away and try to re-approach later with a clear mind.https://twitter.com/dayntee/status/997553840663678976 …

I think the Internet allows people to respond immediately and w/o thinking in an environment where there are no immediate physical repercussions. You don’t see the pain on someone else’s face. You don’t see the discomfort and body language, you see a computer screen not a person.

Social media is very enabling- both a great thing and a bad thing. The anonymity and the physical barrier makes it so much easier to overshare and react impulsively. I'm super grateful to Twitter for enabling me to meet the people I have, but ggooddd are people scary sometimes!

It is I fear contributing to world wide stifling of compassion. It’s so easy to be cruel quickly and get that “I showed THEM”. Take conscious effort to provide a counter. But many lovely people here do that!

Yeah :( People think what they say will never get back to the person/thing being discussed, but a lot of the time it does. I try to react how I'd like people to react if I were the one being discussed. Don't always succeed but people have to try anyway, yknow?
