I watched a girl die. I filmed it because it was my job to do so. I filmed her blood pour out under her, and saw it dried up in the spot she died when I visited there the next day. I had nightmares for a while. Yes, it was traumatic.
Joe Biden's presidential announcement video uses a lot of footage from Charlottesville, and focuses on that as a theme. As someone who was there - and found it to be quite traumatic - I'm not sure how to feel about that. Question for other journalists who were there, thoughts?pic.twitter.com/iuVJbQbCkF

I love it! I wasn’t there in person but I sure as hell WAs traumatized by the fact that this atrocity was allowed to happen in America! I’m elated that he’s made it clear this won’t be tolerated anymore!

It happened prior, it’s happening now and it will continue to happen. No politician can end bigotry and hatred. It’s on the public to be more informed and less emotional. Unfortunately the media needs the public to be emotionally invested -it’s easier to manipulate them.
