Would you say the science on gravity is settled?

nope. we know some of the math. but we don't know how it works. we theorize a graviton particle exist and it interacts with a Higgs Bosen field to give an object mass.
we cant even correctly model how gravity works on a binary star system using simple Newtonian physics. we guess

This is how science works.
We never really know anything, only how it appears to us via our contemporary faculties of observation and conception. And as the faculties develop, so does what we conclude based on our observation.
