Is there any contemporary art you consider divinely inspired?

I think about this all the time. For me, the answer is no, across all mediums, and I chalk it up to diluted DNA a la Multiplicity. Everything great that can be accomplished by -organic humans- has already been done.

In a comedic aside, my mom and I once walked into a Jeff Koons exhibit circa 2015 whereby he had hired out other painters to copy Renaissance masterpieces and then adhered a solid blue gazing ball to the front in some sort of elementary school philosophical attempt to be deep.

We called the gallery owner over and asked a few questions forcing her to regurgitate this pseudo-deep pablum and then told her to recite that drivel to her reflection in the blue balls and see if even she believes it.
$60K for a repro he didn’t even paint and a $3 ball. 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼

I often contemplate this quote, especially while thinking about the state of the contemporary art world. Where are we heading?

Brilliant. I think of that often as well. The movement recently of removing the person from art and replacing it with space has been particularly interesting to me as an indicator of collective consciousness, as I myself have gone through a disintegration of personhood.

Would definitely be interesting to explore this phenomenon through a bit of history for an essay. I’m down to collab if you’d ever want to write a piece together.
