By halting the conceptualizing faculty of the mind, psychedelics also temporarily stop you from being hyper-aware of your conceptual self-image (hence ‘ego death’).

Observing the world with the eyes of a child again, it is as though you are in an entirely new world—just like having traveled to a wholly different place far away, with your old self and all its culturally conditioned baggage left far behind.
