It’s like looking at one’s footprints in the search of direction, while ignoring everything else that’s going on in the present surroundings. A rather fruitless endeavor, yet we even built the whole study of history in this spirit. 😂

😄 I love that analogy so much! Can I add it into my repertoire of analogies? Yes, I agree. Memory is a lovely thing but it's an aspect of the present not a prerequisite.
