Happiness and sadness both are same emotion felt differently. It's when you don't feel either you attain peace of mind.

Good observation!
I feel that what we seek in happiness is often a state of peace and contentment, not initially a set of emotions strictly positive (although that’s what many try to attain). This ‘need to feel happy’ is the very inner turmoil we expect good feelings to pacify.
