Once I had the opportunity to meet ASIMO & when you look into the “eyes” of such a robot face to face there is a sense that something is disturbingly wrong about the situation.

Truly so. This combined with the haste of consumerism, we’re sawing off the branch we’re sitting on.
Humanity has survived well without robots for all of its existence, and judging by our current direction in the world I have absolutely no idea how they could better anything.
