#GOTV 2/ Texas has an open primary system. You can vote in either party's primary, but not in both.

#GOTV 3/ If you vote in the GOP primary to help influence which candidates are chosen, YOU CANNOT vote in the Democratic runoffs in May. Likewise, if you vote Dem in the primary, you cannot vote in the GOP runoff.

#GOTV 4/ Many of the local races now not only have Democratic candidates, but have contested primaries. #TX31 has 4 Dems running; #SD5 has 3; and 9 Dem candidates for governor! So the old argument of "there are no good Dem choices" is moot.

#GOTV 5/ To avoid a runoff, a candidate has to outright win 51% of the vote in the primary. Because we have the luxury of so many Dem candidates running, we will likely have a runoff in several races. So you should be thinking not only about the primary, but also about runoffs.

#GOTV 6/ In races with contested primaries, your vote helps determine not only the candidate, but also the direction of the local party. Want a more progressive party? Then vote for the most progressive candidates. Every vote counts and sends a message.

#GOTV 7/ If you signed the candidate petition for any Democratic candidate, you promised on that form that you **would not** vote in the primary of any other party.

#GOTV 8/ If you do not choose to vote in the primary, you can still vote in the runoff. (So to VDRs: don't stop the GOTV efforts just because the primary registration deadline has passed. New voters can still participate in the runoffs!)

#GOTV 9/ AND: our fabulous, completely competent Dem candidates need our support.
