    Basically all these IAP shenanigans would be moot if Apple provided developers a number of great ways to have an app run in trial mode.

        @flyosity Wouldn’t unlocking a trial mode be under the same patent the trolls are going after?

        @jnjosh Yup, so that needs to be fixed first. Actually someone on HN had a good idea: check geo coords and don't let east texas users use it

        @flyosity Might as well just have a small quiz before purchase. If they believe in software patents, no IAP. :)

        @flyosity You should blog more. I would read it. Especially considering that I'm doing more mobile app stuff these days.

        @antonpeck @flyosity So true. Blogging is like exercising. I know I should and that it would be good for me, but I never get around to it.

        @flyosity Isn't a free app + IAP a paid app with a trial mode?

        @diegopetrucci Yup, but with developers jumping through hoops about it and users not really knowing completely up-front.

        @flyosity I wonder if Apple things a lot of people wouldn’t understand software trials and why apps suddenly “stop working” hence push 4 IAP

        @sevitz If anyone could explain to users what this means and have a wonderful experience around it, it's Apple + indie debs.

        @flyosity I can’t see the technical side being insurmountable so I can only assume Apple thinks having some apps stop after 7 days is bad.

      @flyosity fascinating idea, I wonder what the internal discussions have been like at apple about this

      @flyosity I can kind of understand the reluctance to upgrade pricing (lots of corner cases, confusing etc), but trials should be doable.
