All right bird nerds. Help me identify a call (no audio yet). Happens every morning. It's one note. Somewhere between a mid-range, rich tone and a metallic tone. For a while I thought it might be something in the house, or from a neighbor, but it's definitely a bird.

Like, part me of assumes it's a jay -- any time I think I'm hearing some NEW FASCINATING BIRB it's a fucking blue jay just being a blue jay.

There's also a chickadee call -- the "hey sweetie" call (or fee-bee call) -- that sounds almost spot-on to it, but it's not two-note, it's just one. So those are my guesses, but dang I dunno.

Sidenote: still haven't quite answered this. It sounds like the "fee bee / hey sweetie" call of a black-capped chickadee, like the one in this video, except it's only one HALF of it -- a single tone, not two notes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3q4T4UsuHo …

Also sounds a little like the "eek" call of a wood thrush found at Audubon --https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/wood-thrush …
