This is now the third paper to find a very very good immune response after one shot of mRNA vaccine in people who had a previous SARS-CoV-2 infection. Time to discuss policy changes, @DrNancyM_CDC @CDCDirector!https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.02.05.21251182v1 …

What's impressive about this is that the anamnestic response can also neutralize SARS-CoV-1 so these beta-coronaviruses have more in common than we think. Which explains why so far there haven't been any reported cases of COVID-19 in pts w previous SARS-1

Many individuals will not know if they were truly infected because of lack of access to testing. Do you think that advising individuals who were previously infected to get just one shot could put more folks than necessary in a position to not become fully immunized?

But how do you determine who all has had it? If someone was a symptomatic or had mild disease, they might not know they had it. And antibody tests only work for a short period after infection, right?

I imagine you would only recommend the single shot if you have a positive antibody test. Without a definitive test result, it is too risky to recommend the single shot.
