Our new study finds that rapid Antarctic ice sheet collapse by unstable cliffs is less likely than previously thought. But, like life, it's not a simple story. "Polar Thinking": my blog at

Amazing communication skills . Thank you for helping us understand the science. Huge global efforts needed to keep below 1.5 degrees, and even then huge risks will be faced by the poorest, particularly children. The is a crisis.

Great to give a lunchtime talk on climate change at international HQ today - lots of engaged people wanting to help children around the world to be healthier, happier, more resilient and more empowered

To all the females out there 🙋🏼‍♀️ We need volunteers for a study investigating the effects of the menstrual cycle on strength performance. Come and get involved in research that will help optimise support for female athletes!

It's a bizarre accusation. You climate scientists just can't win really - either you're being alarmists or you're being too cautious.

For an environmental activist, you sure do seem to like attacking climate scientists. Where do you think your information about climate risks come from? Why do you think we work long hours researching, talking to public & policymakers, teaching, those risks? Pathetic to blame us.

Thank you: but as I was telling our students on Wed, one reason I do is because I learn so much (what people are thinking, where they get info, who they trust, whether a scientific explanation can persuade - plus of course the scientific criticisms that are valid)

This just arrived to help with side effects from aromatase inhibitor therapy! Safe to use with my treatment but now panicking as to whether it’s safe to use after an ER+ breast cancer? Can anyone help me?

The story about climate scenarios today is really about the success of climate science. Without the science of the past few decades - longer - we might have emitted CO2 faster & faster, burning all the coal we could find. Instead, we saw the threat, and we slowed down. 🔥

I must admit, damp green walks in the Peak District are sounding very appealing right now... But I've never been to RSS, and have only been to one IGS BB/UK Antarctic (and am overdue an Edinburgh visit). Bah.
