It's pretty handy for investigating apps when you're unfamiliar with how they work internally. Like, where does time go when running host(1)? Disk i/o! It also spawns 4 tasks

One of the things I love about Python is how close to pseudocode it can be. Perfect for quickly implementing algorithms.

I’m hoping for interesting things in the Observability space.

Reminder: this is why you can’t parse programming language constructs with regular expressions.

Yeah, limited space is a fair point. This is what I see. Maybe moving away from TUI would improve things?

The surest way to get developers to make code faster is to put it into their workflow. (The thing about kernel developers optimising kernel builds times is 100% true.)

Very cool! Deferred functions just got a whole lot cheaper in Go 1.14. Nice write up from .

So why do we need another system call? Because of the perennial thorn that is CPU hotplug!

How have I not heard this story about sending tapes through the mail to reboot the internet?

This slide deck from Robert Sedgewick (Algorithms) on role of science and maths in software dev is really great.

It’s dated now, but the 4.4. BSD book still gives me the warm and fuzzies whenever I read from it.
