I hate when parents treat their deaf/hoh children like their deafness is some strike against them as parents and something they have to fix and never acknowledge again. It’s just awful. And so so hurtful to their kids... they aren’t helping them at all, by doing this.

The parts of the brain for signing and for speech aren’t the same parts, and an older child learning to speak outright is HARD... so taking away their means of communication just because they are “normal” now, is Lao so detrimental to their health and development.
