They have said they're not trying to take away 2nd amendment but you refuse to hear them. They don't think assault weapons should be in the hands of citizens. They think the legal age to purchase a gun should be raised. The courts have said assault weapons aren't protected.

can you quantitatively define an "assault" weapon? The bullet it the actual damaging component and the gun is just a delivery method yet the gun does not independently execute the process ie: People kill People! Guns are the tool...Knives, explosives, bats all assault weapons too
