Interesting perspective. I agree that post-doc stage is characterised by a large degree of freedom, but not sure that most post docs have access to sufficient funds to make the most of it.

I also find the idea of labs with CEOs and CTOs very interesting. I guess it happens to a degree with collaborations between groups, but would be good to test the full model.
