    In reality, the MyHeritage breach seems it will not wind up the first known hack of our genetic information. But it IS a reminder that we are sharing sensitive information when we share our DNA.

    Interesting side note: MyHeritage, like GEDmatch, the site used to nab the Golden State Killer suspect, allows users to also upload DNA data from elsewhere

    Also, MyHeritage is a huge genealogy site, with 96 million users, but only 1.4 million of those have actually done DNA testing through the company

    A few important points here! For starters, even if the hackers could access passwords, unless they also had access to user email, they could not download DNA data
