Note: C# has had zero-cost async callstacks since 2013, despite using the JS model of futures. How? because the callstack is really a returnstack showing where the current fn (be it async or not) will "return". This is necessarily always available in all languages at zero cost.

In practice in C#/JS, if the debugger is paused in an async fn, then the stackframe referencesthe future that will be signalled upon this async fn completion, and the debugger can inspect that future on the heap to see which callbacks are signed up on its .then()
