This , I want to draw attention to Black youth. Cdn writers and activists like and highlight the ways the state and institutions render Black bodies invisible. Black youth are particularly vulnerable to violence. 1/5

My university refused to hire this longtime contingent faculty member who was the only person in our department whose classes were consistently filled, so he left. They brought him back to keynote for BHM. His honorarium is almost as much as what he was paid to teach 1 class.

This Jameela situation is really showing the dangers of the neoliberalistion of identity politics and how identity claims are weaponised by the powerful to over-identify with and subsequently, gain access to and profit off the cultural production of marginalised communities

We’ve always had stories about Coyote and Badger making treaties to hunt together. To other people they sounded like myths when they were really lessons in cooperation and symbiotic relationships, but Western science caught up eventually

I don't know if many of my followers enjoy Gini coefficients, but this recent paper by Sam Bowles & Wendy Carlin made me stop and rethink. "Inequality as experienced difference: A reformulation of the Gini coefficient"

2/2 Police have taken over community halls and airport hangers, while armored pickups & police dogs have been spotted in the area. Canada is prepared to invade lands & destroy them with the world as witness. We have no fear. We will win.

Racism towards Chinese/Asian people was preexisting. Sensationalizing coronavirus and other racialized diseases (MERS, ebola) reifies BIPOC as biological threats to the body politic and facilitates the expansion of state power (calls for anti China travel bans, etc)

They way Kerby-Jean Raymond fought for Kiki and Fari to stay on Next in Fashion is the way every black man should defend and fight for black women. I have so much respect for him!

Holy shit. I haven’t turned a Super Bowl on this early in a while, and boy, I forgot how well the guys on *nail* the staggering insanity of the jingoistic, flag-waving fascism of its pageantry.

This makes me think about the massive class action lawsuit that's coming against parents who have been shamelessly posting pictures of their children without their consent...
