Desmond was a really close friend. I spent a lot of time with him and was there with him, his mom, and his close friends when he had his first meltdown. I was harassed by his fans because we put him in the hospital. He needed help, and we were very aware of it.
I’ll be honest. I’m pissed. I’m pissed beyond my mind that his VERY fucking obvious signs of mental illness was brushed off by not just the hospitals, but by a lot of his fans. Memes were made, jokes were made. He lived to please all of you instead of himself.
He was crying for help, we tried so much. At the end of the day, there is not alot we can do when someone refuses help, even Des realized that in his video. Way too late. Mental illness is not a joke, and anyone can have it.
I’ll miss you so much Des, I wish there was more we can do but I know it was hard for you. It’s sad but I know you’re in peace up there with your brother and I know you are looking out for us. I hope we can all be nicer people.
Every single word you say to someone can and WILL affect them. BE NICE. And please just get away from the computer sometimes. Theres a whole life outside of twitter, there is so much to do, so many places to see, so many languages to learn, cultures to find. Enjoy life <3
Une tragédie. Y a une bonne dose de tristesse et de colère car pas grand chose n'a été fait pour l'aider (c'est en tout cas l'impression que tout ça donne). Mes condoléances à toi et au reste de ses amis, ainsi que toute sa famille.
On a essayer de l’aider, ,mais il y a pas grand chose a faire quand l’autre refuse de l’aide. Il y a plein de trucs qui c’est passe qu’on a pas mis sur twitter, insta etc... (pardon pour les mot sans accents, j’ai pas mon clavier francais sur moi)
No souci. Je pensais pas côté amis/familles quand je disais ça (j'avoue que mon commentaire le laissait entendre, c'était plus que maladroit). Je pensais plutôt aux hôpitaux psychiatriques qui l'ont libéré à chaque fois qu'il y rentrait.
At least in America it doesn't take too much to get out. If you really want to leave they can't stop you if you aren't hurting yourself or say you are going to. It is also very easy to pretend that you are okay and just go back to your normal ways. I'm saying this from experience
I'm not gonna lie, this fact seems baffling to me. Like the system is kinda broken somewhere.
I work in Behavioral Health as a BHT, it is terribly broken. Clinics and case teams often want nothing to do with their charges and will just stuff them into Group Homes to be forgotten. Often these facilities are understaffed, but filled because filled beds are $$
I'm diagnosed bipolar manic depressive. Some days are a struggle. People need to stop treating mental health as a joke. We need to take care of each other.

Don't you dare say that. Sometimes certain things, including people, just aren't enough and it's a tough pill to swallow, but don't blame his friends. Many of them tried

Anyone actually paying attention saw how much you did and how much you tried. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you didn’t.
