Ah - dashing expectations once again. For my international friends I live 10 mins walk from the center of a city of half a million people. Might get gigabit by 2026 (not optimistic about that though). G7 country apparently 🤷‍♂️

Although all classed under the banner of 'risk assessment & security' I would classify these requests in 2 distinct categories: - country of origin requests (very bad! won't actually help with risk assessment) - SBOMs, scan results, reviews (not great but not as terrible)

At the @EclipseFdn we are seeing a troubling trend of information requests about our projects that ask things like: - country of origin of the project - country of origin of the contributors - results from security audits, scans, and reviews - SBOMs

Genuine question that I am struggling to get a good answer on - we have a lot SBOM tooling, and the concept in and of itself is good - but what commercial orgs (not US federal) are actually looking for SBOMs as part of their procurement requirements right now?

as the thread implies, if you follow the current trajectory to its logical conclusion you don’t end up in a good place

This is kind of a big point, and beyond a lot of analyst expectations (bluntly put mine included when I was an analyst - I knew it was big, but not this big). Congrats due to all & the extended salesforce for growing OpenShift to this point.

was helping a friend with a resume last night. his was in great shape, fortunately, and didn't need much from me, but i gave him the same spiel i give to everyone i help work on them anyway. thought it might worth sharing here, so it's 🧵time. /1

If you have any coworkers on L1, it’s a good time to check on them. L1s are not transferable to other sponsors, and an L1 holder needs to leave the country unless they can’t find a new job at their current sponsor — unlikely after a layoff.

The “you also have to plan (eg dr), install, maintain, do compliance, operate and know how to upgrade kit” parts of cloud repatriation economics* really do seem to pass people by. Makes for amusing reading. Let’s I&O like it’s 1999. * yes there are some reasons to be on prem
