I did read the article, hence the comment on including transfers in that data. But counting those transfers in journeys, especially on a network forcing more transfers, isn't honest and it's not honest to say the whole network is a winner if it's not being charged for yet.
You can't say people value it when literally no value is yet being applied to it yet.
I read it as 2 or more consecutive boardings are counted as 1 journey - on the Tues there were 90k+ boardings but 66k journeys. But why not ask @Transport_CBR for the raw data & someone @MarkusMannheim? analyse it. If they refuse report that
