It starts with personal responsibility, if workers are complaining that they are not making enough money it's their responsibility to increase their income. Small business owners have already made adjustments and sacrifices by becoming employers instead of remaining employees.

Or for small business owners to adjust & pursue a high road perhaps with help from government as they pay better. It’s a minimum wage. Workers can barely make it in NY with $15. NY DOL has data on this. Why workers & not business should adjust? We’ll keep organizing for good jobs

Rising rents are a factor and property taxes are part of that problem, and a $15 minimum wage increases power of national chains at the expense of small businesses. As for keeping workers poor a logical solution for low wage workers is to pursue higher paying jobs.

When asked asylum seeker Yazmin Juarez if she’d witnessed a culture of cruelty at the ICE facility, Juarez said that an agent had told her, “You know, this country is for Americans, Trump is my president, and we can take your little girl away from you and lock you in jail.”

Making these jobs good paying union jobs, building homes for workers w/o displacing others, addressing subway delays & congestion remain a challenge. Past HQ2 debates we must work on those issues, find money & ways for growth to benefit working families, not just try to stop it.

Another possible jobs program that can benefit many people in places where economic growth & good union jobs are needed: systematic reforestation and maintenance of forests. Not all we need to do. Keeping fossil fuels on the ground is key. But there are plenty others.

Discussing DHS reorganization, creation of a new agency(ies) to protect human rights & constitutional rights in our country is long overdue. Legitimate issue. We can’t ignore DHS or ICE abuses. TY for pushing. Immigrant rights, human rights, constitutional rights=worker rights.

It’s really not that radical. When DHS was 1st formed by Bush 17 years ago, many members of Congress were concerned - incl GOP - that we were setting up a ticking time bomb for civil liberties erosion & abuse of power. Discussing reorganization shouldn’t be out of the question. twitter.com/CBSNews/status…

It’s been happening from competition of national chains, online competition, rising retail rents. Minimum wage increases ramp up effective demand creating a job multiplier in our communities. How that fuels local businesses is what we need to figure out, not keep workers poor.

In addition to the loss of over a million jobs, what isn't being discussed is how many small businesses would crumble as has and is happening in NYC. twitter.com/figue32bj/stat…

We need $15 min wage. Income inequality has grown during economic expansion. Unions must scale up organizing before it ends. Build power, fight/win higher wages & a GND. Oppose ‘shared sacrifice’, austerity/cuts to social programs, when recession hits.

Hell yes. Things are going well and not building *traditional* unions is, to borrow a phrase, a feature, not a bug 😊.

Building a union means creating a community with real power to challenge the decisions of our billion dollar companies. You better believe they will fight tooth and nail to oppose us every single step of the way. Freedom, as they say, is not free. 1/5
