A6: I think query refinement SERP features are getting interesting—I imagine there's more to come in that department. It can definitely shake things up a bit, but there's likely some optimization that can be done to capitalize on it as well.

A5a: The one that comes to mind first is the reduction in FAQ real estate (number of items in the list). The other one that is neat is clip and SeekToAction structured data for video content. It's super useful to users, and something to definitely play with.

A4b: I'm not at all a local expert, but for results where there are phone numbers, you can apply call tracking for instance.

A4: First of all, it's lame for Google not to provide more of this segmentation in GSC. But since we don't have that, it's important that we utilize 3rd party rank tracking on top queries in order to better understand which results are leveraging diff features

A3b: There are a number of formats that a featured snippet takes, and certain types of queries, and results produce certain types of FS results. Once you've identified that, you can work on formatting content to appeal to those content types. 2/2

A3b: But on a more practical note, let's consider featured snippets. We can use data to detect patterns. There's a bunch of research that shows it's usually a site ranking in the top several results. 1/2

A3a: Sometimes, probably, maybe? I would think that some SERP features have their own ranking factors (local/map pack), but some are likely a way of parsing data and using existing factors, or layering on top of them (featured snippets, image packs, news, etc.)

A2 Augmented search results are ones that look for an entity in a query and will enrich it. There is a patent on this knowledge augmentation Process: Augmented Search Queries Using Knowledge Graph Information

Although, something I've played with, that folks should consider is not applying logic to review schema. Maybe you only want to show it if the reviews are positive? Or slightly less than perfect ;)

A2c: And you have to realize that if a new SERP feature is here to stay, and its inclusion in results has caused an initial loss of traffic, the only thing you can really do is to play Google's game

A2b: New SERP features are usually worth experimenting with, but you need to let the data speak for itself. Run some tests, and play around with it.

A2a: It certainly depends on your business. If you're a restaurant, local SERP features/map packs are going to be essential. For a brand search, a KG panel is a nice to have. For queries where are is a featured snippet for instance, it's better to have than to not
