Detect pressed keys via microphone audio capture in real-time. Uses training data captured by typing first. Very neat! https://github.com/ggerganov/kbd-audio … Based on ideas in this classic traffic analysis paper: Timing Analysis of Keystrokes and Timing Attacks on SSH https://people.eecs.berkeley.edu/~daw/papers/ssh-use01.pdf …pic.twitter.com/IIWij54jlK

I now just love my flat and quiet soft touch keyboards even more. Short travel distance, low actuation force and no clicks or noise to detect. 🔇😁

This has actually been around a really long time...the the Russians used something like this to determine what was being typed in Diplomat type writers:https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/10/how-soviets-used-ibm-selectric-keyloggers-to-spy-on-us-diplomats/ …

So it uses the latency between keypresses to predict how far apart the keys must have been. Uses HMM & Viterbi, like ChaSen (@taku910), so it's reminiscent of a predictive keyboard. To guard against this attack, type unusually: i.e. one-handed, or with pauses between keypresses.
