From a mathematical perspective I don’t know. From my experience I’d say 1&2 are equivalent, because it would only take me a few minutes to unlock any combination lock.
-
From a logical perspective you need to think about option 2. Most people will move.each number by 2-3 places. With this knowledge it takes 9999 possible combinations down to ~1500. Thus more likely to be guessed. Zeroing the lock keeps the 9999 possibilities.

If you spin randomly then you maintain the probability that you end up with your combination. So it's less secure than putting it back to 0000. Assuming 0000 is not your code...

I'd zero mine out... Partly because I like to have it in a known state, weird personality quirk. That said if you spend some time on YT you'll learn there is literally a lock picking sport and it's very easy to open this time of lock.

Throw that thing away and buy a decent padlock. Too easily opened with a comb pick.

I say zero it out. That has to erase all information. I don’t know how, but randomly spinning would preserve information.
-
Not if it was truly random. A zero setting is not random.

If we all universally agree to zero it out, then that becomes the most secure setting. A setting of all zeros becomes the one code that everyone knows is not the true pass code... (except that one guy who uses all zeros as his pass code)
