Here's a great photo of the ISS by J. Mccarthy. The reason why the ISS keeps its relative size against both the Sun and the Moon is due to a remarkable coincidence: the diameter of the Moon is 400x smaller than the diameter of the Sun, but it is also 400x closer to us!pic.twitter.com/gFushdAY6A

important to mention: this fact also makes total solar eclipses possible!

A total solar eclipse would still be possible in plenty of scenarios, it just makes the moon ONLY eclipse the sun and nothing else. They fit perfectly within one another from our perspective.

This coincidence is also often claimed by the religious to be the work of God himself due to how unlikely it is.

God tried a universe where those were switched, the moon was 400x larger and the sun was 400x closer but it didn't work out so good.

How do you expose for the sun? It must be an extremely short shutter speed and small aperture. Do you explain your methods somewhere? Amazing work. Congrats

Ok this just blew my mind ! I had to check and The diameter ratio is 1.3927 million / 3,474.2 = 400.87 And the distance ratio is 150.79 million / 384,400 = 392.27 So this makes sense !

If I was building a simulated world, I would probably do that just to screw with their heads. I keep thinking if I say the right password I’ll get out. @elonmusk End Program. End Simulation. Pumpernickel. Seriously, I know Elon is the guy on the switch and I want out! Bazinga!
