I believe J.J. Thomson won the Nobel prize when he showed electrons. Meaning he proved the existence of electrons. The way you cast it is a bit misleading, even if funny.

Depends upon your definition of particle. He attributed a quantized charge and mass (didn’t of course use those terms) which he measured and interpreted as a stream of very light charged particles. It really is not so simple to say particle (or for that matter wave)
